Of the two types of jade, Nephrite and Jadeite, Jadeite is by far the most precious and sought-after species. This off-matrix miniature has a convex upper surface, mirrored by a concave opposite face and is of a mid-emerald shade of green, hence the variety Emerald Jade. From the locality of Uru Fluss in Myanmar, this lovely specimen has been polished at one end, forming a curved area of roughly 4 x 1.5 cm. With its ever-increasing popularity, especially amongst Chinese collectors, pieces such as this are becoming increasingly rare. A great example of this highly prized form of Jadeite from Myanmar.
