SMITHSONITE

ID: CC8243
Composed entirely of glassy, equant rhombohedral crystals of colourless Smithsonite with cloudy, pink-tinted cream inclusions, this geode-like specimen is from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia.  The crystals are developed on average to between 5 and 7 mm; all have sharp undamaged edges and lustrous faces with diagonal, lightly-striated faces.  The only matrix is a patchy part-coating of orange-pink and greenish-cream granular Dolomite on the base.  The specimen sits perfectly for display, with the crystal-lined vug dominating the entire display face.  A beautiful miniature of Smithsonite from Tsumeb.
