This slender, 4.4 cm tall crystal of Chromium-bearing Dravite is from Nadonjukin in the Simanjiro District of Manyara Region, Tanzania.  Although this locality is normally recorded just as Nadonjukin, the deposit here has been worked by the Commander mine and so most probably is from this mine.  Dravite is a member of the Tourmaline Group and its colour zoning is typically characteristic of here: a vibrant chrome green top with a central zone of yellowish-olive green and a rich leaf green lower prism.  This ex-matrix crystal is cleaved at its base and is perfectly terminated at the opposite end, with an asymmetric trigonal pyramid.
