Dioptase

ID: CC8512
A splendid group of deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals forming a kinked chain across the surface of lustrous white Calcite crystals. This specimen is from the famous Dioptase find at the Tsumeb mine in the late 1970s and shows the characteristic pinkish-brick-red Dolomite matrix on which the Calcite sits.  The Dioptase crystals are a good size and range between 0.6 cm to over 1 cm.  A charming miniature Dioptase from Tsumeb in Namibia.
