A pleasing double terminated crystal of bladed Baryte sits across a matrix of pink-white crystalline Dolomite.  From the Frizington mining district in west Cumbria, the Baryte crystal is essentially translucent and colourless, grading to pale mustard yellow edges and with reddish Hematite inclusions.  The composite crystal measures to 5 cm with many sub-crystals in parallel growth and some imperfections.  The Baryte crystal sit horizontally on top of the column of iron-stained Dolomite forming a ‘T’ profile.  The specimen is accompanied with two labels.  One is clearly old and at first I thought maybe one from famous local dealer John Graves, but do not now think it is.
