This immensely rich small cabinet specimen of Botallackite is from Cligga mine at Perranzabuloe on the north coast of Cornwall, England.  Although Botallackite does occur within the mine, this specimen is more likely to be from the deposit discovered on the beach adjacent to the mine where the copper lode extends out into the Atlantic.  The Botallackite, a hydrated copper halide, forms when chlorine-rich sea water reacts with copper within the lode.  This fine specimen has a roughly 7 x 4 cm display surface coated in greenish blue laths of Botallackite with a metallic lustre covering a micro-crystallised surface coating of greenish blue Connellite on top of a milky white Quartz veinstone.
