An iron-stained, vuggy, veinstone quartz matrix is very richly lined and encrusted with deep emerald-green rosettes of Chalcosiderite, often to about 5 mm wide. This is a terrific specimen from Wheal Phoenix at Minions near Linkinhorne in north Cornwall. Glued on the base is a lovely old label in “copper-plate” handwriting. Chalcosiderite is a copper-iron phosphate which was first named in 1814 and whose co-type locality is Phoenix United mine at Minions. This is a rich and well crystallised miniature which will provide a good example of this species in any collection.
