A gorgeous cranberry red terminated crystal of the uncommon Tourmaline species Liddicoatite from the Anjanabonoina Pegmatite in Madagascar.  The crystal is lustrous and gemmy containing many internal flaws and light reflecting planes, measuring 3.3 cm high.  The prism faces are vertically striated while the trigonal pyramidal termination is mirror-smooth with a highly reflective lustre.  The prism’s colour intensifies towards its termination, graduating from a pinkish champaign fractured base to the rich cranberry red termination.  This gem pegmatite, famous for its magnificently coloured Tourmalines, lies 42 km WSW of the town of Betafo in virtually the exact centre of Madagascar.
