A specimen that has certainly been on its travels in historic collections and dealerships. The specimen is from the Roughton Gill area Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria. Crystals of Cerussite mostly cover the display face of the specimen, having an inter grown prismatic straw-like habit. The colour of the Cerussite is from milky-white to creamy, formed on and in a Quartz/Goethite and rock matrix. The history of the specimen is well documented with many labels, probably starting with Bryce M. Wright (Senior) circa 1860. The specimen then passed in to the William W. Jeffries collection in 1864, and was acquired from him in 1905 by the Carnegie Museum. A very interesting specimen from the area.
