Chalcophyllite on Chrysocolla

ID: CC5311

Two main areas of well-formed intergrown crystals of Chalcophyllite are seen on the specimen from the St. Day United Mines, Gwennap. Bright green platy ‘hexagonal’ crystals of Chalcophyllite measuring on average to 1mm, are seen grown on a layer of Blue-green Chrysocolla. The matrix is a mostly altered Chalcopyrite with ‘Bornite/Covellite’.
