Cobaltaustinite

ID: CC4238

A large lavishly adorned specimen of the rare mineral Cobaltaustinite from Bou Azer mining district in Morocco. The Cobaltaustinite is seen to line deep compartments in a vughy pinkish Dolomite matrix, the largest cavity measuring to 6.5 by 5.5cm. Cobaltaustinite forms a micro-botryoidal lining on a previous phase of Calcite crystal formation. The rare mineral has a colour from light yellowish green to deep green. A final phase of gemmy colourless prismatic nail head Calcite crystals are seen to be richly adorning areas in the cavities, measuring to 0.5cm. A very rich specimen of a rare species from Morocco.
