A pretty specimen of intergrown crystals and stalactitic extensions, from a classic area for the Cobaltoan variety of Calcite at Bou Azer, Morocco. The specimen displays a number of intergrown shallow relief crystals of Cobaltoan Calcite. The crystals display extensive stepped growth habit, terminated by three faced pyramid. Rod-like or stalactitic forms are also to be seen on the specimen measuring to 1cm long. The colour is a deep pastel pink, with preferential inclusions of russet brown Goethite in restricted areas of the specimen. The luster reflecting from the many stepped growths is silky. The Cobaltoan Calcite has formed on a white translucent matrix of Calcite with Sulphides. A fine specimen of Cobaltoan Calcite from Morocco.
