A fine specimen displaying large well developed crystals of Crednerite on Calcite from Merehead Quarry, Somerset, England. The Crednerite forms a platy crystal group to 2cm by 1.7cm showing a partly open structure. The crystals are black and lustrous contrasting with the translucent Calcite crystal matrix. The Crednerite is partly overgrown by minute acicular crystals of green Malachite. An excellent large crystal example of Crednerite from the premier location for the species.
