An uncommon specimen of Cubanite from Shaft 371, Saxony, Germany. Cubanite is a Copper Sulphide seldom found in crystals. On the specimen we have from this German location the Cubanite occurs as scattered micro rod-like crystals with pseudo-hexagonal cross-section, of light metallic yellow colour. The Cubanite is associated with abundant micro-crystals of yellow metallic Chalcopyrite. The Chalcopyrite crystals pepper a lustrous intergrown druse of creamy curved Dolomite crystals. The previously formed minerals are mostly covered on the display face by lustrous gemmy colourless scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring to 1.1cm long, some of which are doubly terminated.
