A great specimen of classic Cuprite and Malachite crystals from the Mashamba West Mine. The Cuprite crystals measuring to 1.1cm display a sharply formed octahedral habit. The Cuprite crystals have fine lustrous faces with a deep maroon colouration. The Cuprite crystals are intermingled with excellent sheaf-like crystals of rich green lustrous Malachite. Both minerals having formed on a tinted green Chrysocolla; which accents the Malachite and Cuprite. The Chrysocolla has in turn covered a first generation of Cuprite. The first phase Cuprite crystals show more complex faces with the cube, octahedron and the dodecahedron. A classic Cuprite specimen from this well known African copper mine.
