Cuprite, Native Copper With Mimetite

£1,575   €1,784  $2,055 approx.

This specimen is priced in pounds sterling, all other prices are approximate.

ID: CC5131

A rare combination specimen from Wheal Gorland, St. Day, Cornwall. Richly inter grown micro-crystals of maroon-red Cuprite have formed on and replaced a network of Native Copper. In rare association on the Cuprite are crystal areas of light brown Mimetite (probably not so well known as the Mimetite from Wheal Unity). The Native Copper-Cuprite invests a whitish Quartz matrix, with areas of green Malachite. A specimen from the Alfred Fox (1794-1874) collection with a Sir Aurthur Russell label.
