This captivating specimen of Dioptase is from the famous Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, a mine that is a premier location for many excellent minerals. The specimen of Dioptase is no exception to this rule. Crystals of Dioptase measuring to an average of 0.5cm form a rich covering over the display face. A deep emerald green colour to the crystals with neon green flashes greatly enhances the specimen. The crystals of Dioptase have a high lustre with the light pleasingly reflecting from the many faces. The matrix is a vughy Calcite/Fe oxide, several cavities are lined with gemmy/translucent micro-crystals of Calcite. An admirable specimen of Dioptase from the mine.
