An excellent example of Fluorite with crystals to 0.9cm on edge richly covering a white Quartz matrix. The specimen comes from Cornwall's last working Tin mine, closed in 1998 (although the signs are very good for re-starting the mine). The crystals of Fluorite are transparent to translucent with lots of gemmy areas. The crystals display stepped growth habit with some edge modification. The body colour of the Fluorite is a light blue with purple tinted edges. The Quartz matrix is composed of prismatic crystals to 0.7cm, some of which are doubly terminated. Sphenoidal crystals of metallic yellow Chalcopyrite are associated. An interesting Fluorite specimen from the old heart of the Cornish mining industry.
