A large cabinet plate of classic Fluorite from the Allenheads Mine, Northumberland. The Fluorite crystals measuring to 2cm on edge are richly intergrown on the matrix. The Fluorite crystals are preferentially coated on face by drusy colourless Quartz crystals with later Siderite on the Quartz. Scattered micro-crystals of Quartz are also on other areas on the Fluorites. The very lustrous Fluorite crystals are typically gemmy on the outer areas with white fuzzy central zones. The matrix depicts a layered structure of biscuit coloured druse of Siderite crystals. There are scattered black shiny crystals of Sphalerite on a plate of Limestone; followed by further Siderite and the odd crystal of Fluorite on the reverse of the specimen. A superb specimen of Fluorite from a mine that closed in the early 1980s.
