A classic combination specimen of Fluorite and Sphalerite on a section of Limestone from the well known Elmwood Mine, Carthage, USA. Excellent crystals of Fluorite measuring to 1.2cm display curious concave edges, due to more rapid growth of the crystal corners. Crystals of Fluorite are lustrous with a rich purple colour, phantoms can also be seen within the crystals. Deep dark lustrous brown complex crystals of Sphalerite measuring to 3.2cm are in association. The Sphalerite is seen in areas on the light grey Limestone matrix, which is partly covered by a sparkling druse of colourless Quartz. A great specimen from this now closed mine
