Fluorite, Beryl, Schorl and Quartz

ID: CC1881

Purple Fluorites and Smoky Quartz on lustrous black Schorl Tourmaline create an aesthetic combination specimen. The Fluorites are heavily modified with dominant octahedral form and stepped growth, measuring to 1.5mm. They have translucent light blue body colour with near surface concentrations of deep purple. The prismatic Quartz to 2.8cm are quite gemmy internally with naturally frosted crystal faces. The Schorl has the typical form for this find, with crystals of lustrous well formed terminations becoming complex with bundles of parallel crystals at the other end. They also show translucent colour banding under magnification of greens, browns and yellows. The highlights are the glassy Goshenite Beryls, scattered over the specimen which really jump out with their high lustre, and bright yellow inclusion phantoms seen through the water clear crystals. An excellent specimen from this single pocket find in mid 2012 in the Erongo Mountains.
