A specimen of Fluorite with a colour that is different from the norm for Boltsburn Mine, Weardale. This colouration does turn up from time to time. The well formed cubic crystals of Fluorite to 1cm on edge richly cover a large area on the specimen. The body colour of the Fluorite is a light sea green, a thin band of purple is apparent as a near surface phantom. The Fluorite has a strong purple fluorescence under UV light. The Fluorite sits on a sparkling drusy translucent white Quartz with some later phase of micro-crystals of Quartz. Shallow pyramidal platy crystals of translucent white Calcite are draped across some of the Fluorite crystals. The matrix base for the specimen is a light apple green coloured Fluorite with minor tan coloured crystals of Siderite. An old label comes with the specimen. Pretty and unusual colour.
