Fluorite With Chalcopyrite

ID: CC2581

A classic Cornish Fluorite from the Trevaunance Mine, St. Agnes. The mine was particularly renowned for producing crystals of Fluorite having the Tetrahexahedron habit. The specimen we have to offer shows over twenty Fluorite crystals measuring to 0.8cm, not only with the Tetrahexahedron, but also displaying stepped growth, with a translucent purple colour. Many of the Fluorite crystals form as clusters over a typical deep green crystal druse of Chlorite. A well formed brassy yellow complex twinned crystal of Chalcopyrite sits centrally on the specimen measuring to 1cm. Tiny white crystals of probably Feldspar are sprinkled over the Chlorite, to one side of the specimen two micro-tabular crystals of Anatase are seen on the Chlorite. The matrix is a typical grey killas country rock. A fine specimen from the 19th century Copper/Tin Mine.
