Fluorite With Quartz
ID:
CC365
An old and unusual specimen with several isolated pale purple Fluorite cubes with an overgrowth of Quartz crust between the cubes. The Fluorites are translucent, have a glassy lustre, and measure to 4cm in width. The Quartz is very lustrous, translucent white with small milky white patches, and unusually does not have well formed crystals, forming a crust rather than drusy crystals. Tiny well formed Calcite crystals are scattered over some faces of the Fluorites. Minor Siderite in the matrix. Due to the age of the specimen, we are not sure of the exact mine but the included Siderite in the matrix may suggest the Rookehope or Allendale districts.
