Fluorite with Siderite

ID: CC8973

A group of three part-crystals of mauve, colour-zoned Fluorite from the Weardale valley in County Durham, England.  Although not recorded, it is highly probable this specimen is from the famous Boltsburn mine near Rookhope, due to its crystal form, unique colour and characteristic part coating of chocolate-tan Siderite.  The interpenetrant crystals measure up to 5 cm on edge and all three show the much rarer elongated form of the cube.  A pleasing specimen from Weardale with this untypical and much sought-after colour.
