A very characteristic specimen of Galena from the Blackdene Mine, Weardale, England. The specimen displays lustrous classic metallic grey intergrown cubo-octahedral crystals of Galena showing a number of offsets measuring to 4.5cm. Some of the crystals of Galena are preferentially covered on selected faces by a druse of platy Calcite crystals. The major Galena crystal also has a metallic yellow intergrown group of Pyrite crystals in attendance. A typical matrix of Fluorite hosts the crystals of Galena.
