Very well developed crystals of bright metallic Galena are the fetcher of this specimen from the Blackdene Mine, Weardale, Co. Durham. Crystals clusters of Galena measuring to 8cm by 6cm are cubo-octahedral in habit displaying stepped growth form. Having grown on inter grown cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring to 4.2cm. Crystals of Fluorite are a pastel purple colour from gemmy to translucent, grown over a previous deposition of light green Fluorite. Crystals of Chalcopyrite are seen to be clustered and scattered over the Fluorite. A classic combination of minerals from the Blackdene Mine.
