Galena on Fluorite

ID: CC3148

A neat crystal specimen of Galena on Fluorite from one of the Lead mines in the Bere Alston mines area, Devon. The metallic grey Galena are in classic cubic form measuring to over 1cm on edge, as a group of three main crystals. Crystals of Galena have formed on cubic Fluorite crystals measuring to 1cm. An outer colourless gemmy zone of Fluorite has overgrown a phantoms of white Fluorite. Within the colourless zone of Fluorite can be seen micro-crystals of Marcasite-Pyrite and some Chalcopyrite. Also in minor association are rare clusters of Sphalerite crystals. All on a banded matrix.
