Well-developed silver-grey cuboctahedral Galena crystals to 1.1 cm form a thick intergrown crust over greenish-yellow granular Fluorite from the impressively named Churprinz Friedrich August Erbstolln Mine near Großschirma in the Freiberg District of Saxony, Germany. The Galena crystals show a nearly complete spectrum of crystal forms between those of the cube and octahedron. The crystals, which have a uniform sub-metallic lustre, form an aesthetic specimen against the predominantly yellow Fluorite base.
