Grossular Garnet Var Hessonite With Clinochlore

ID: CC2040

An excellent small cabinet specimen from the famous Val d'Ala in Italy. The specimen displays sparkling deep orange red Hessonite crystals. The Hessonite are intergrown with green Clinochlore and minor Diopside, richly coating the metamorphic rock matrix. The Garnets are gemmy, with sharp dodecahedral form, measuring to 5mm. Clinochlore forms silvery green booklets of hexagonal crystals, and the Diopside is present as several prismatic tinted green crystals.
