A showy specimen of Hematite, Calcite and Quartz from Cornwall's most photographed historic mine site - the romantically placed Botallack Mine on the rugged Cornish Atlantic coast. The specimen consists of a Quartz matrix, with elongated finger thick crystals of Quartz to 2.2cm long. The colourless to white Quartz is liberally sprinkled with metallic black circular platy crystals of Hematite to 2mm. A later generation of translucent white platy Calcite crystals to 0.5cm diameter preferentially coat one side of the Quartz crystals, contrasting with the black Hematite. A fine example of the three minerals from the Botallack Mine. The specimen comes with a Dr F. Krantz of Bonn label.
