Hematite and Calcite

ID: CC2245

A hemispherical specimen of Hematite and Calcite from the Beckermet Mine, Cumbria. The Hematite forms a red-brown egg shell, pleasingly coated in black sparkling micro-crystals of metallic Specular Hematite. The Hematite is surmounted by translucent scattered crystals of Calcite to 1cm, with a satiny luster. The specimen has been repaired, but this not evident from the display faces.
