Highly lustrous, sharp crystals of Hematite richly cover the gneissic matrix. The Hematite forms platey hexagonal crystals, with bevelled edges, many beginning to form rosette assemblages of several crystals. The largest crystal measures to 19 mm width. The Swiss Alps are famous for Hematite specimens, and the coverage of crystals combined with the metallic, mirror-like lustre make this a spectacular piece.
