A great colour contrasting specimen of Henmilite from the type location of Fuka Mine, Honshu Island, Japan. Henmilite was discovered here in 1986, while Olshanskyite was approved as a species in 1969. The Henmilite forms deep purple to dark blue well formed blocky Triclinic crystals in groups to 2cm, and single scattered crystals measuring to 0.5cm. The Henmilites are very nicely contrasted against the white chalky bubbly Olshanskyite which has overgrown a core of off-white Calcite. A rich specimen of two rare Borate species from Japan. Specimens of Henmilite first made an appearance at mineral shows in 2003.
