A wonderful sparkling specimen of Malachite from the well known Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, DR Congo. The mine was operated for 17 years from 1978. This specimen comes from a find made in 2012. The Malachite consists of long prismatic-feathery crystals radiating from separate centers in a cone-like habit. The 'cones' join together to form a surface on the other side of the specimen, which is somewhat like botryoidal clusters of terminated crystals. Malachite from this mine is well regarded, and our specimen has very bright lustre with excellent chatoyancy, with the rich green colour playing around the crystals as the specimen is turned. A fine specimen of Malachite from the mine.
