A classic Mn oxide pod specimen, polished to display the concentric deposition of minerals to advantage, from the Merehead Quarry, Somerset, England. The specimen shows an outer zone of black to steel grey Mn oxides followed by alternating translucent white Calcite and black Mn oxides. The central area is occupied by a thin band of creamy Hydrocerussite formed around a reddish brown rich aggregate of Mereheadite. A good example of mineral deposition at the Merehead Quarry.
