Mimetite

ID: CC1974

A classically formed crystal habit from the world class location for Mimetite. This miniature specimen is dominated by a well formed terminated prismatic hexagonal crystal of Mimetite measuring 1.4cm tall. The major display crystal shows an internal phantom, delineated by speckles of red Hematite. It protrudes from an intergrown group of similar long prismatic crystals at its base. The crystals all have a high luster, and are transparent to translucent yellow to colourless with the reddish-brown Hematite inclusions. The matrix is a composed of etched Calcite crystals with yellow to red Fe-oxides. A nice display piece.
