A rich crystal specimen of Mimetite from the Elura Mine, NSW. This Lead-Zinc deposit was discoved in 1971, and went into production in the early 1980s. The Mimetite forms an array of scattered and aggregated crystal clusters, individual crystals measuring to 1.1cm long. The Mimetite crystals have an elongated hexagonal form, with some extended growth on the prism faces. The crystals are mostly tan brown, with a number showing a zoned yellow colouration. The matrix is a grey-black and russet brown Goethite, partly encrusted by a thin white shell of Quartz. A fine specimen of Mimetite from this Mine.
