A rich small cabinet specimen of classic Campylite from the Dry Gill Mine, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria. The Campylite completely covers a typical Quartz and black Mn Oxide matrix with minor Baryte. The Mimetite var Campylite has very fine burnt orange colouration and a vitreous luster, with the light reflecting from the many faces of the barrel shaped crystals. An excellent example from a location that is now off limits to collectors. Although the working was a lead mine some of the ore went to manufacture pigments.
