Nasonite In Datolite

ID: CC1016

A fine micro specimen from the 1970's of Nasonite in Datolite from Merehead Quarry, Somerset, England. The Nasonite forms a prominent rich blue crystalline area with Datolite, in a 0.5cm wide cavity surrounded by Goethite. The Nasonite contrasts well against the white platy radial Datolite. The matrix is a lustrous silky radial Goethite which sets off the Nasonite and Datolite. Nasonite is a rare Lead Calcium Sorosilicate Chloride only found at very few locations around the world. (Sorosilicates belong to a class where two tetrahedra share an oxygen atom)
