Native Copper

ID: CC1197

A natural sheet of Native Copper from a rare Spanish location for secondary minerals at the Monte Romero mine, Andalusia, Spain. The area is believed to have been at work in the 7th century BC. The Monte Romero mine was developed in the Northern Pyrictic Ore district. The Native Copper is mostly covered by various green colour shades of thin Malachite, Chrysocolla and probable Brochantite. Interestingly the specimen was given to Sir Arthur Russell by the mine manager, and it comes with a Russell label.
