A rare specimen of Native Silver from Wheal Herland, Copperhouse. Certainly from the late 18th-century discovery of rich but small deposits of silver minerals at depth in the mine. On the specimen mostly covering an area of 3cm x 1.5cm are wires and intergrown aggregates of Native Silver, with a slight silvery-reddish colouration. Other areas on the specimen also have rare clusters of Native Silver wires. In a matrix of metallic grey Argentiferous Galena and white vein Quartz with minor Sphalerite. Specimens from the discovery were given to Philip Rashleigh and the Rev. William Gregor, both avid collectors at the time. A Cornish rarity.
