A rich and rare specimen of Pyrargyrite from the Frias Mine, Santana District, Colombia. Like many South American Silver-Gold deposits, this mine was worked by the Spanish in the 17th century. This specimen consists of well-developed crystals of metallic grey Pyrargyrite measuring to 6mm are seen aggregated over a Galena/Pyrite ore matrix. Colourless crystals of Calcite are sparsely associated with the Pyrargyrite. A seldom seen specimen from the mine. An old label is affixed to the reverse of the specimen with the initials J.M and a number 1910.
