A very fine specimen of Amethyst from a Cornish mine that only closed in the 1990s when the pumps were switched off. This specimen probably came from the polymetallic B lode in the 1980s. The Amethyst forms a plate of sharply formed pyramidal crystals to 3.5cm tall. The Amethyst actually forms a gemmy cap to 0.6cm thick over milky crystals of drusy vein Quartz. The pinkish purple Amethyst exhibits deeper purple phantoms underlying the terminations. A terrific rare (for Cornwall) specimen of well formed Amethyst from one of Cornwall's last working tin mines.
