Quartz With Inclusions and Epidote
ID:
CC30
A really interesting Quartz specimen from the recent finds at Meigu. Sharp glassy incomplete Quartz crystals feature phantoms of rust-red Hematite with speckles of black Hematite(?) along the phantom edges. Balls of cream Dolomite and a white mineral (also Dolomite?) sit on the phantoms, enclosed by the Quartz, measuring about 6mm in diameter. Often above the Dolomite the Quartz has not formed, leaving circular gaps and casts in the Quartz where the Dolomite has partly dissolved. Dark green Epidote is present as inclusions in the Quartz, and as a well-formed blade measuring 1cm length on the edge of the specimen. Great specimen, it the appearance of looking through water at what lies beneath.
