Redgillite

ID: CC1072

A rare specimen of a fairly new species Redgillite from the isolated Esgair Hir Mine, Tal-y-bont, Wales. The specimen we have was collected in 1989 by Steve Rust from the mine site, very few specimens were found. The find was mentioned in the 1990 book 'Minerals of the Caldbeck Fells'. The Redgillite forms a green micro-crystal druse mostly covering a Chalcopyrite-Quartz matrix. The specimen has been mounted on pedestal in a hinged micro-mount box.
