A very rare large specimen of Rheniite from the volcanically active area of Iturup Island in the South Kuril Island chain, Far-Eastern Russia. This some what rare Rhenium Sulphide has formed as a rich very bright silvery metallic druse of very thin platy micro-crystals. The Rheniite is apparent on all sides of the specimen, covering about 40-50% of the volcanic rock matrix. The Rheniite has formed on the specimen as a result of fumarolic activity at the Kudriavy Volcano cater. A very rare specimen and interesting recent geological history.
