An uncommon specimen of botryoidal banded Rhodochrosite with later Pyrite from the Oppu Mine, Japan. The Botryoidal cavernous Rhodochrosite has formed on a predominately Sphalerite matrix with minor metallic Chacopyrite. The Rhodochrosite shows strong banding with a reasonable surface luster and slightly orangish pink colour. The Rhodochrosite is partly overgrown by crystals and towers of stacked pyrite crystal aggregates to about 0.7cm, with metallic yellow colouration. An unusual specimen from the Oppu Mine.
