Superb characteristic specimen of large Siderite crystals on Dolomite with Pyrrohotite and rare Cubanite, from the Morro Velho Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Disc-like lenticular crystals of Siderite are lustrous light translucent clove brown, measuring to 3.5cm. Crystals of Siderite have developed over similar habit colourless-white crystals of Dolomite. Associated with hexagonal crystals of partly altered Pyrrhotite, and rod-like crystals of the rare Copper Iron Sulphide Cubanite. A classic specimen from this old Gold mine.
