Excellent crystal specimen of well developed Siderite on Quartz from the Carn Brea Mine, Illogan, Cornwall. The mine developed a number of lodes in the most intensively mined area of Cornwall. The specimen we have from the mine depicts two connected clusters of steeply rhombic crystals of Siderite measuring to 1.1cm. Crystals of Siderite have a body yellow brown colour, with translucent yellow edges and flashes of red. A band/vein of drusy milky white is the host for the Siderite, both minerals are on a grey-green Chlorite with spots of Quartz and Cassiterite.
